This map is heavily influenced by Bruce’s obsession with his claim to have discovered the source of the Nile, by which is meant the Blue Nile or Abbay, indicated by the way in which the river is shown as flowing in an unbroken stream through Lake Tana, but also shows a great deal of original information gathered by Bruce in his travels from Egypt to Ethiopia.
